Well hello everyone. Yes I know I know. There is a day for everything now. Between yesterday, today and tomorrow these celebrations of note, believe it or not, were Lemon Chiffon Cake Day, Niagara Fall Runs Dry Day, Pencil Day & Bunsen Burner Day. And one to note is of course World Party Day this Friday. But the whole reason that I am typing away to you here and now is that the 31st of March has been designated as World Backup Day. This date is deliberately chosen as the following day is April Fools Day. With the slogan, “Don’t be an April fool, Backup”.

This is a very important message for all to take head. Everybody has great intentions. But sometimes it just slips our mind or it’s a bit awkward. And then BANG. You have no access to your drive or your laptop has been stolen. So how do you access your very important presentation that the meeting tomorrow is hinging on. Or you digitised all of your family albums along with all of your children’s photos. All gone. Forever.

If this has not happened to you then I can guarantee that it has happened to someone you know. Not having a decent backup plan in place can be disastrous. Not having any backups in place is just absolutely foolish, to be polite. Have a look at the few simple stats below.

UWN has a very simple to operate and proven recovery with their Squirrel Backups service. Why not have a look and see. Contact us if you have any queries.

Data Loss Statistics

6% of all computers will suffer from some data loss in any given year.
30% of people never backup.
40% of businesses that suffer a major data loss go out of business within a year.
1 in 10 people will have their laptops stolen.
44% of all dataloss is through hardware failure.

Yes it’s true. UWN is being talked about and by none other than Corner Shop Gym. They set up a Squirrel Backup service with us over a year ago and this has helped them recover from disaster not just the once but now twice. Ewan (the UWN robot) loves to hear these stories and is very happy to have been of assistance to Susan on this occasion, in fact on both occasions.

That is why we are delighted to offer all friends and clients of Corner Shop Gym a promotional offer of three FREE months if they sign up for a Squirrel Backup plan. Unfortunately we are updating the Coupon engine and cannot give you the Promo Code here and now. However, if you express an interest now in this with the form below, we will give everyone three months free (normally a two month max).

And just to offer everyone a very simple piece of advice. The three most important things that everyone should do if they own a computer. Backup, backup and backup.

Please contact us here.

Apple have done it again. They have released the latest incarnation of the iPhone, which is now the industry standard. All other phones need to check themselves against the iPhone and how their own device matches up to it. They are not the market leaders for nothing.

2007 saw the the introduction of the iPhone and this indeed was an absolute game changer. Although the first so called smart phone was the IBM Simon in 1992. Many people believe it was the Palm phones that were the real first in the smart phone arena. However, I would say that it could be the Blackberry. It dominated the business market for a number of years after the release of the iPhone. It became a very powerful device with a whole backend of people and hardware was required to run this device for businesses. This was ultimately its downfall and because the iPhone was becoming business friendly with a much simpler approach, the Blackberry’s days were numbers as the the kingpin of business smartphones.

There are such a variety of different smart phones now that the choice is mind boggling. So much so that there is a big business in the comparison of these alone. And depending on your requirements you can get a smartphone for free or pay right up to £10,000,000 (€12,550,000), if you have that sort of cash lying around.

Regardless of what your individual phone choise is or whether it is used for Business or Angry Birds, the smart phone is here to stay. And although you should never say never, it looks like the iPhone will be the top of the heap for a long time to come. And to think it all started only seven years ago.

For a more detailed review of the actual iPhone 6 release the here is where you need to go.
